The Goldcrest is one of the smallest birds in Ireland. I didn't see, but heard it on a walk with my boys in a local wood. The yellow "crown" they wear is due to the fact they are the king of the birds! 👑

A story Aristotle told in Greece was of a race of the birds had to see who was the king. They all mocked the tiny Goldcrest (who would fit in the palm of your hand very easily). However, the Goldcrest hid under the wing of the mighty Eagle, who was winning the race. Just as the Eagle tired and thought he had won, the Goldcrest nipped out to win the race 🏁
