Sionnach/Madra Rua (red fox)  

Madra = dog 🐶

Rua = Red 🔴

While red in Irish is dearg it is a different type of red. A deep, vibrant blood red used for berries etc. while rua is used to describe a rusty kind of red. I have also heard that we use rua things that are alive - hair, Foxes and beer! 🍺

Nowadays we see more urban fixes than wild rural foxes - unless we spot them flattened on the side of the road. These are beautiful nocturnal creatures are what we actually hear at night as opposed to a Banshee wailing.😱

☘️In Celtic mythology, the fox is wise and cunning. A trickster who knows the forest better than anyone else, the fox symbolizes the need to think fast and strategically. Highly adaptable creatures, they also symbolize the need to adjust to new situations. 

The Celtic fox is a shapeshifter who can switch between canine and human forms at will. This unique ability means the fox can easily slip in and out of places, especially those dangerous to anyone else. Foxes are also seducers, captivating unwitting souls with their charm and good looks.😚
