Torc (Allta) = (wild) boar

Same name for Celtic design jewellery.📿

While I have eaten wild boar I have never seen one in Ireland, except in the zoo or sanctuary 🐗 However, the boar has appeared in a story ( "The pursuit of Diarmud & Gráinne" ) Itold my boys at bedtime one night.

In the Irish language it can also be used to call someone "Portly, corpulent or a person of substance". Furthermore a Boars head translates to Cloigeann collaigh. While cloigeann is another word for head, collaigh can be translated to not just boar but also male crab or a crude, fleshy person. Collach coillte is a hog and collach goille means a voracious appetite.🍽

However, the Boar is an old Celtic & European symbol of strength and fertility. It would have been commonly used to display leadership in an army as it was also a symbol of courage and aggression.💪😡
